Low Smoke Zero Halogen Cable Assemblies

Increasingly due to legislative and building safety concerns, specifiers are incorporating extended use of LSZH cabling and cable assemblies into not just building plenum spaces but also within many other areas. A degree of confusion exists with regard to the terminology used by various cable manufacturers, however, LSZH & LS0H (Low Smoke Zero Halogen), LSHF (Low Smoke Halogen Free) or sometimes 0HLS (Zero Halogen Low Smoke) all refer to the same standard.

Burning standard PVC cables will emit poisonous gases including hydrogen chloride which if combined with water produces hydrochloric acid, which not only damages humans but also computers, building management systems, access/security systems and control equipment. Burning PVC also produces dense smoke obscuring building exits and chocking occupants.

Over the last few years a greater range of bulk cable types have become available with LSZH sheathed assemblies being possible for most functions within public buildings and areas where people and sensitive electronic equipment are at risk.

Connect-2 Technology has the capability to produce LSZH variants for many cable assembly types including: -

  • Cat 5, Cat 5e, Cat 6 UTP & FTP network Cables Assemblies.
  • SVGA Cables Assemblies.
  • Serial Data Cables Assemblies.
  • Mains Cables Assemblies.
  • RG Co-Axial Cable Assemblies.
  • Ribbon Cable Assemblies.
  • Control Cable Assemblies.
As usual if you have a any requirement for LSZH assemblies or would like a quick quote for standard assemblies and harnesses please send your drawings/specifications by email here or fax/post to the contact details found here.
